Solution for Problem 2.4.4

Graph the equation:  x2 + 6x + y - 7 = 0

  x2 + 6x + y - 7 = 0

Put in the Standard Equation form

  x2 + 6x + y =

Add 7 to both sides

  x2 + 6x + 32 + y = 7 + 32

Take half the middle term and square it.

(x + 3)2 + y2   = 16

Standard Equation form:

(x - h)2 + (y - k)2 = r2

The center is (-3, 0) and r = 4

Locate the center (-3,0)

Then count 4 units along the x and y direction.

Draw a beautiful circle.
